Builders in Tunbridge Wells
The varied homes around Tunbridge Wells call for different building briefs: more family space on the post-war estates, or careful changes to an older villa. Mighty Oak Construction is based in the town. Elliot discusses the property at a no-charge visit, with the proposed work recorded in a detailed quotation.
A building firm that knows the town's housing
Tunbridge Wells has been Royal since 1909, but its housing is more varied than the spa-town image suggests. The 1680s building boom around the Pantiles and Mount Sion left the oldest streets; Decimus Burton's early nineteenth-century estates shaped Mount Pleasant and Calverley; and the large post-war estates at Sherwood and Ramslye are where many of the town's loft conversions and extensions now happen. Local High Weald sandstone, once quarried at Langton Green, still faces many of the older houses.
Around the town centre, census figures show a mixed stock: about 38% of homes are flats or maisonettes, a quarter have four or more bedrooms, and roughly six in ten are owner-occupied. Out towards the estates the balance shifts to family houses with lofts and gardens — the properties that benefit most from added space.
Each house type brings its own building questions, from listed fabric in the old town to trussed roofs on the post-war estates. The free site visit is where those questions get answered for your property.
